1. Hair moisturizer and conditioner

Virgin coconut oil can make your hair shine and add soft glow to it when you use it regularly as a hair conditioner. In contrast with other commercial hair products that contain a large number of ineffective oils and chemicals, coconut oil has in its own content chemicals which bond firmly to the hair. Recent research evidenced in many scientific journals for cosmetics shows that the hair of subjects who use coconut oil has the power to absorb great quantity of moisture, making it incomparable with that of the hair of the other control subjects.

Follow these steps to achieve healthy treatment to moisturize and deep condition your hair:

Wash your hair as usual and do not dry your hair with a hairdryer. Scoop up one to three tablespoons of the oil and put it in a small bowl. Take a bit larger bowl and add a couple of tablespoons of warm water in it. Then take the smaller bowl with coconut oil and rest it within the bigger bowl. When the coconut oil becomes soft at a room temperature, apply it on your fingers and massage it throughout your hair. Next, wrap your hair in a towel or cap and leave it so for 30 minutes to 2 hours at most, allowing the treatment to work properly. When it is time, remove the towel or the cap and wash your hair to remove oil. Use shampoo to clear the remnants of the oil. If you want to have even better result, you can add some essential base oils such as apricot kernel, jojoba, olive oil, avocado, etc.

2. Prevention of hair loss and boosting hair growth

There is a number of beneficial natural ingredients that treat hair growth like rosemary, onion and castor oil. Among them however, is the coconut oil.

In the Journal of Ethnobiology and Ethnomedicine, there is an article which proves that coconut oil is known to be helpful for centuries, thus being an inevitable ingredient for mixtures that are helpful for hair growth since the earlier times.
Traditionally, coconut oil has been added in mixtures with aloe vera. Two tbsp. of gel of aloe vera mixed with three tbsp. of melted (liquid) coconut oil will do wonders. Apply the mixture to your hair and cover it with a cap. Leave it overnight and next, wash your hair. You might want to use ACV (apple cider vinegar) during rinsing, as it has wonderful effect on your hair. This method will add length and shine to your hair.

A second solution for encouraging hair growth is the mixture of false daisy with coconut oil. False daisy extracts provoke hair regrowth and full regrowth in shorter period of time. Mix a few tbsp. of coconut oil with a little bit of extract oil of false daisy or false daisy powder and massage the hair scalp with it. The extract of false daisy also keeps the natural black hair color black and prevents hair breaking.

3. Preventing gray hairs

As mentioned, false daisy extract mixed with melted coconut oil can help prevent dark or black hair to turn gray.

Indian women have used this mixture for centuries, in order to prevent their dark hair from going gray. Their hair is thus radiant and black.

The mixture is made by adding a few drops of Eclipta prostrata (false daisy) oil to a couple of tbsp. olive oil as an anti-aging hair treatment that prevents dark hair from getting gray.

There is also another method which is helpful for this matter. Mix coconut oil with hibiscus rosa sinensis (Chinese hibiscus). This is a pink or red flower which extract is used as a tool for prevention of gray hair and hair breaking as a result of aging. It also keeps dark hair dark.

4. Preventing dry hair and frizz

Dryness and brittleness are the main reasons for hair frizz. Therefore, moisturizing and smoothening hair products help to improve frizzy hair. Coconut oil is also very helpful in taming the frizz. Put just a few coconut oil drops on the fingers and apply them throughout your hair. Curly and dry hair often lifts when you brush it, so in this way you can prevent the problem. Try not to put a lot of coconut oil because your hair will look oily.

5. Prevention against dandruff

Coconut oil is also an effective fighter against dandruff (or dermatitis). The deep conditioning treatment mentioned above is helpful if you want to get rid of dandruff. But do not rinse and wash your hair after 2 hours. Wrap your hair in a shower cap and leave it overnight. In the morning, wash your hair as usually or if you rinse it, you can apply apple cider vinegar in order not to leave oily remnants.

6. Removal of lice

Commercial products for lice treatment which are available on the market are known to contain harsh chemicals and have poisonous features. It is recommended that you take some time to explore and choose an effective natural alternative before you decide to try a potentially harmful product.

One secure and right way to fight against lice and nits invasion is to use ACV (apple cider vinegar) for rinsing your hair and after that, you have to cover your hair with coconut oil.

Follow these steps:

All you need is apple cider vinegar and coconut oil.
First, use the ACV to rinse your hair. Do not wash it immediately after you apply it, but rather leave it to rest until it is dry. There is a sort of glue that keeps the eggs stuck in the hair follicles, so the vinegar dissolves the sticky material. Be aware that you should avoid applying vinegar on irritated scalp.

Next, after the ACV dries, completely cover your hair with coconut oil. At the end, wrap up your hair with hand towel or wrap/cap and leave it to rest for two or three hours.

Finally, get rid of lice and eggs as much as possible by combing your hair, and after that, wash your hair with shampoo. Personal experiences prove that this really works in a natural way, without any toxic ingredients, even if you do it only one time!

7. Damaged hair repair

Coconut oil has won in many tests as the best natural treatment for damaged hair, among mineral oils and oil from sunflower. It is published in many articles for scientific cosmetics that coconut oil prevents harm to the hair shaft.

If your hair is damaged, simply apply coconut oil to the scalp and gently massage it. Coconut oil is rich in lauric acid (essential fatty acid) and combines with hair proteins quite well. The molecular features of coconut oil allow it to enter deep in the hair shaft. This will successfully treat your damaged hair.

8. Natural hair detangler

Dry or curly hair is most likely to tangle during the day, and especially after you wash it. Using coconut oil after washing your hair is the best way to avoid tangles. You can also apply it when your hair is dry and the day is windy.

Use small amount of coconut oil on the palm of your hand and cover your hair thoroughly. If your hair is longer and really dry, you might need to add up more coconut oil, but try to use a little bit of oil to avoid very oily look.

With the oil rubbed completely on your hand, start applying it at the tips of the hair and continue towards your scalp. Apply it evenly, or if you have a really tangled hair spot, apply the oil only there for better control.
Next, brush your hair with a wide-toothed comb, starting at the tips, and continue to brush it to the scalp area. Also, work in small segments because this way you will prevent hair shaft damage.

Coconut oil should always be kept in the bathroom.

It provides an amazing treatment for damaged hair and it is also very beneficial for the whole body. You cannot lose anything by simply trying these hair treatments with coconut oil. It has been used since ancient times, and it is proven that it is natural and healthy way to take care of your hair.
